Qoof Case Study

The Client: Qoof (www.qoof.com) is a video commerce platform that bridges the world of Online Shopping, Internet Video, and Direct Response TV to create a distributed, targeted, and personalized video commerce network. Qoof provides products and services to the affiliate marketing and the e-commerce community to drive sales leveraging the power of video.

The Challenge: Qoof was dissatisfied with the existing code base developed by a previous off-shore vendor. They wanted to evaluate the existing code and architecture and then salvage whatever possible and rewrite whatever necessary. A new architecture that was exceptionally reliable and scalable, while being extremely adaptable to change, needed to be designed and implemented. All this needed to be done while meeting “impossible” deadlines.

Our Role: In order to meet these challenges, Renaissance provided two (2) developers and a project manager to complement the client’s existing developers. This allowed us to provide both development (design and implementation) expertise, as well as management expertise to manage requirements, priorities, and scheduling. Our development responsibilities included architecture, design, and implementation, as well as design and code reviews.

The Result: The Renaissance team worked together with Qoof developers and product planners and successfully met the required deadlines. Moreover, the system was now based on a solid foundation/architecture and was capable of easily meeting future performance and maintenance demands. In addition, the Renaissance staff shared its expertise in a “mentoring” role, so that after the 6-month engagement, the Qoof team would be able to effectively continue on its own.
